Industrial Feasibility Study

Feasibility studies in IEA:

WHR (Gap Analysis, DDE, Debottlenecking)

A waste heat recovery unit is nothing but a heat exchanger installed to recover the energy being loss to the environment for process use. The units are very common in heating utilities, boilers, thermic fluid heaters, hot air generators, kiln etc. Hot flue gases being vented to atmosphere through chimney are first passed to waste heat recovery unit to preheat combustion air, boiler feed water, preheating of process fluid etc.

Problems generally observed and communicated by client:

  1. Choking of heat recovery exchanger
  2. Reduction in flue gas or combustion air flow
  3. Over heating of combustion air
  4. Problems observed not in waste heat recovery unit but in process were combustion or heated process fluid is used, for e.g. Clinker formation in furnaces, warning signal of less combustion/hot air flow in user eg. Dryer, furnace, production reduction etc.

Client may not directly be able to communicate problems in waste heat recovery system; he may communicate problems in process equipments were inputs from waste heat recovery unit are being used.
